The floating shelf never looked so good. Typically a simple wooden plank, the Halifax design makes much more of a statement by increasing the depth and hand-finishing it with beading at the base and flared mouldings on top. Style tip: make a feature by using multiple shelves on one wall. Choose the same length repeatedly for a more symmetrical arrangement. Or mix things up by using graduated sizes, spaced sporadically.

By using a smaller amount of furniture polish blotchy stains can be avoided. Try to keep the air moisture on a constant level for instance by using a small water reservoir put next to your heater. Furthermore the furniture shouldn’t be placed close to any heat source or straight under the sun.
